WARRENS - The Warrens Cranberry Festival has been canceled for 2020.

According to a post on the festival’s Facebook page, the board of directors decided to cancel the event out of an abundance of caution amid the coronavirus pandemic, in order to protect the Warrens community and the visitors who attend the event every year.

“With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to evolve unpredictably, we feel strongly that the most cautious course is to allow more time for the situation to stabilize,” the group announced in its post. “We thank everyone for their patience as we have considered all the matters necessary to making this difficult decision.”

The festival has run for 47 years in Warrens, about 45 miles southwest of Wisconsin Rapids. The annual event attracts more than 45,000 people daily and hosts more than 1,300 vendors from across the country. This year marks the first cancellation in the event’s history.

The next Warrens Cranberry Festival is set to run Sept. 24 to 26, 2021.
